Developed by Professor Christopher Fairburn, CBT-E is the leading evidence-based treatment for adults with all forms of eating disorders. This 18-session group is for adult men and women in need of help managing the symptoms of their eating disorder. It is based on the theory that a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected and can be restructured to support new, healthier thoughts and actions.
CBT-E skills will be taught in a structured treatment of three 6-week phases to address the eating-disorder-maintaining mechanisms. Phase One will address behavioral factors of weight-control behaviors including dietary restraint, restriction, binge eating, purging behaviors, self-harm, body checking and body avoidance. Phase Two will address cognitive factors including over-evaluation of weight and shape, negative body image, core beliefs about self-worth, negative self-evaluation, and perfectionism. Phase Three will address relapse prevention techniques.
The fee for the group is $900 ($50 per group).
